 Bachelor Degree in Chemistry

Program Outline

Chemistry is a fundamental subject for understanding the compositions, structures, properties, reactions and applications of materials. Chemistry plays a crucial role in most every scientific field, which is why most chemists refer to chemistry as the “central science”. Since the 21st century, with the continuous development of science and technology, the research objects of chemistry have been expanded from molecule to material, device, cell and even the whole organ. Chemistry becomes an indispensable central subject of many branches of science, such as life science, material, energy and environmental science etc. Therefore, students choosing chemistry is to choose the challenges of the future, while earning a brilliant development prospects.

Educational Objective

The aim of this program is to provide students with basic knowledge, fundamental theory and basic skill and attitudes of chemistry, and provide students with an ability to begin a career in various research institutes, laboratories and commercial, government departments, and industrial and educational sectors.

Learning Outcomes

This program is designed to provide students basic knowledge, fundamental theory and basic skill and attitudes of chemistry. A thorough grounding in theoretical aspects will provide students with the skills, knowledge and problem-solving abilities required for a successful career in industry, teaching, research and other careers where scientific skills are valued.

Students who graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry possess should be able to:

1. Grasp the basic theory and basic knowledge of mathematics, physics and other aspects.

2. Grasp Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry (including Instrumental Analysis), Physical Chemistry (including Structural Chemistry), Polymer Chemistry and Physics, basic knowledge of chemical engineering, basic principles and basic experimental skills.

3. Understand the elemental knowledge and fundamental theory of related program such as applied chemistry, chemical engineering etc.

4. Be familiar with national policies on intellectual property right, industries and chemistry-related companies, etc. and understand the societal, global, and ethical impact of chemical processes.

5. Understand the forefront of chemical theory, application prospects, as well as the latest developments related to the chemical industry development.

6. Grasp foreign language query data, document retrieval and use of modern information technology to obtain information related to the basic method.

7. Having the multiple skills in writing and communication—general, technical, and laboratory writing and analysis and visualization of experimental data; having a logical communication ability to attain effective mutual understanding and creative ideas and application capabilities based on his/her personality.
