 Introduction of Leahter Chemistry and Engineering

 

 Leather Chemistry and Engineering Disciplines of Qilu University of Technology was founded in 1986, and started to recruit undergraduate student in 1991. It was approved as a master's degree disciplines in 2000, and became the university and provincial key disciplines, respectively in 2001 and 2005. The Light Chemical Engineering Division became the national and provincial first-class characteristic major.

The area of leather laboratory is 1100 m2, including tannery technology, spraying-dry, analytical testing and other specialized laboratories. After the "Eleventh Five-Year" key construction, the Leather Discipline has become a major platform for high-level personnel training and technology research.

This discipline has high academic level, and is a dynamic and young team with a full-time staff of 20, and more than 85 percent are associate professors or doctors, including a “Young Professor of Outstanding Contributions in Shandong Province”, and one national candidate of "Hundred Talents Project".

The main studying object of this discipline is to master natural animals’ protein processing technology, giving consideration to the fur processing, leather chemical synthesis, environmental protection and synthetic leather manufacturing expertise, etc. After years of development, research methods are formed, such as of cleaning leather technology, environmental-friendly leather chemicals, development and application of fur fashion, functional products of biomaterial and collagen fibers. The key of Leather Discipline is training senior engineering and technical personnel engaged in the leather, fur and related industrial production control, process design, deep processing and utilization. The graduates have basic skills for leather production management and product development, and also have a solid theoretical foundation and expertise.
