I. Educational Goal
First, the goal of the education includes grasping the basic principles of Marxism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and "Three Represents", upholding the four cardinal principles, establishing the righteous vision of the world, life and value, devoting himself or herself to the cause of socialist construction of our motherland, and having a better cultivation of ideological morality.
Secondly, the goal of the education is to have good moral character and ethical research, with the pursuit of truth, devotion to the scientific spirit of seeking truth from facts, innovative and pioneering spirit, good spirit of cooperation and humanistic spirit of society.
Thirdly, the goal of the education is to grasp solid fundamental and specialty knowledge relevant to Pharmaceutical Engineering, familiarizing the research progress and development potentials of the present discipline, grasping the related research methodology and experimental skills, and cultivating the high level application oriented talents with innovative thought of science and technology and engaged in pharmaceutical engineering to undertake scientific research or independently technical work.
Furthermore, the students are also required to master a foreign language, and to use the foreign language proficiency to read the professional foreign information. Lastly, seeking truth from facts of the style of work, and having the physical and mental health is also the goal of the education.
II. Research Orientations
A. The research of API of Chemosynthesis and Preparation
B. The research of Pharmaceutical Preparation
C. The research on Nature Products and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Development
III. Educational System and Duration
The normal length is 3 years. The length of study period is 2 to 5 years (including leave of absence, leave school, postpone graduation time). Among them, the thesis is not less than 1 year (from the title of the paper to the respondent by the application).
IV. Credit and Curriculum
Master's degree courses and postgraduate courses include compulsory courses and selective courses. Among them, the compulsory courses consist of public courses, specialized courses and degree courses about frontier topics. Here, 18-32 hours for public classes are calculated as 1 credit, every 16 hours for professional courses as 1 credit and every 32 hours for experimental courses as 1 credit.
The master student must obtain at least 31 total credits, including 21 credits compulsory courses and 10 credits of selective courses.
V. Mid-term Screening
Mid-term screening should be carried out for summarizing the study achievement since the postgraduate entrance evaluation, discovering and solving the problems in the process of cultivation, making the graduate smoothly entered the stage of essay writing, ensuring the quality of postgraduate cultivation. The mid-term screening should be completed before the twelfth weeks in the third semester and should be implemented under the specific regulations according to the master's degree candidate screening measurements of Qilu University of Technology. .
VI. Thesis-writing
Thesis writing, as an important part of the graduate program, demonstrates students’ ability to do scientific research and hands-on work. M.S. candidates should complete thesis independently under the direction of their supervisors. The thesis should adequately reflect that the graduate student has met all the requirements set in the graduate program. Thesis research work time (from starting thesis proposal to finishing paper defending) shall not be less than one year. The detailed requirements are in the “The Provisions for Master Candidates to Apply Academic Degree of Qilu University of Technology (Third Edition)”.
VII. Other Required Elements
1. Teaching Practice, Scientific Research Practice and Social Research
There are three practices for selecting, including Teaching Practice, Scientific Research Practice and Social Research. One of the three practices is required for all students.
Teaching Practice
Teaching Practice is to train graduates’ teaching ability which is an important part of the work. The college students for teaching practice must participate in the first line teaching (including as assistant secondary school teachers, answering questions, correcting homework, to guide experiments and thesis, etc. ). the workload should be equivalent to at least 16 school hours which is generally arranged in the first and second school year. After the practice, students are required to write at least 1500 words of practice summary, fill out the "Qilu University of Technology" by instructors and college where after examination at Graduate Department approval.
Scientific Research Practice
College graduate or postgraduate tutor will make the arrangement for students research practice which is not less than three weeks and generally in the first or second academic year. Research practice must be independent with dissertations. After the practice, students must write a summary report of the practice of not less than 3,000 words, and fill out the "Qilu University of Technology postgraduate Research Practice Evaluation Form". After the inspection of instructors and college, the audit report will be checked at the Graduate Approval.
Social Practice
Social Practice refers to a part-time management positions in schools, and the specific requirements separately.
2. Academic Activities
Two components are included in academic activities which penetrated the whole cultivation process. For each student, hosting of two lectures is required during the school study duration. Furthermore, ten times of academic lectures participation, at least, is required. Meanwhile, all students are required to fill “Master Graduate Student Academic activities Records” objectively. Following the examination by the School of Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Engineering, and corresponding adviser, the records submitted to the Graduate Student Department for the ultimate judgment.
VIII. Research Requirement
Prior to the application for oral defense, graduate students are required to complete one of the following findings at least:
1. One paper of the graduate students should be published (at least accepted) by a magazine collected by SCI or EI, and the graduate students should be the first author (or the mentor as the first author, and the graduate students as the second ). The unit of the first author and the students should be signed by Qilu University of Technology, and the content of the paper must be related to the dissertation.
2. As the main researchers (top three), students should get more than one scientific/technological awards with the level of no less than bureau level, and the award certificate shall prevail.
3. As the main researchers (top two), students should get at least one authorized invention patent and the content of the patent must be related to the dissertation.
