Bachelor Degree in Safety Engineering
Program Outline
Safety Engineering is a new interdisciplinary subject, involving many branches of science, engineering, arts, jurisprudence, management, medical science, etc. It mainly focuses on the theory for the formation, development and cause of disasters, safety management method and system, individual behavior and organizational behavior, the system safety analysis and evaluation, the technology and equipment of accident prevention and control.
Educational Goal
The aim is to train application-oriented engineers who can adapt to the requirements of high-quality engineering and technical personnel due to the development of the national economy, science technology, and society, to satisfy the demands in safety science and engineering. After graduation, the students should have solid professional knowledge, strong engineering ability and innovative consciousness, and good teamwork spirit, and enable to engage in safety management, safety research, safety analysis and evaluation, educational training, safety supervision, etc in the field of safety science and engineering.
Learning Outcomes
This program will provide students with the basic theories and knowledge of safety science and engineering. Students of this major mainly learn the courses of safety science, safety system engineering, safety men-machine engineering, safety analysis and evaluation, combustion and explosion, pressured vessels safety technology, corrosion and protection, occupation health and engineering.
Upon successful completion of the Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Engineering, students will:
1. Master basic technical knowledge, skills and engineering methods of safety science and engineering;
2. Grasp the basic theory and basic knowledge of safety management and supervision;
3. Grasp the basic knowledge of risk analysis and safety evaluation, potential hazard identification and control;
4. Possess the ability of design, research and management of safety engineering;
5. Have the skills and strong ability of controlling hazard and risk.

General Degree Requirements
This degree requires 163 credits, including transfer credits, in total. All the credits must be distributed as follows: compulsory basic and professional courses (107 credits), electives (22 credits), and practice training (29 credits).
