1. Program Outline

Leather Chemistry and Engineering focuses on the research of animal skins and related natural resource. Leather Chemistry and Engineering aims to enable students to master the processing and modification of collagen, interactions mechanisms and effects between skin proteins and chemicals, selection and maintenance of equipments, and related preparation and use of chemicals.

2. Educational Objectives

The main studying objective of this major is to master the natural animal protein processing technology, giving consideration to the fur processing, leather chemical synthesis, environmental protection and synthetic leather manufacturing expertise, etc. The key of leather discipline is to train senior engineers and technical personnel engaged in the leather, fur and related industrial production control, process design, deep processing and utilization. The graduates will possess basic skills of leather production, management and development, as well as solid theoretical foundation and expertise.

3. Learning Outcomes

Leather Chemistry and Engineering students should master the basic chemical structures and properties of animal skins and other natural materials, master the processing and modification of collagen, interaction mechanisms and effects between skin proteins and chemicals, equipment selection and maintenance, preparation and use of related chemicals.

Students will gain basic training in experimental skills, technology design, products testing analysis, production technology management, and new product development.
